Sounding Joy is thrilled to announce that Shelly Ash has joined the team as a Provider Liaison, bringing over 35 years of expertise in pediatric audiology and cochlear implants to help expand the organization’s mission.
Shelly launched the cochlear implant program at Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital in St. Petersburg more than 25 years ago, creating a lasting impact on children’s hearing health in Tampa Bay. After retiring from Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital in 2025, Shelly planned to spend her time cooking, making art, and traveling. However, when fellow audiologist and Sounding Joy Board Member Vangie Neeley mentioned how quickly the organization was growing, the opportunity to continue helping children with hearing loss was too appealing to pass up.
As a Provider Liaison, Shelly will play a key role in strengthening relationships with audiologists and healthcare providers across the region, ensuring more children have access to the hearing aids and services they need to thrive.
“Shelly’s strategic mindset, fresh ideas, and deep knowledge of provider relationships will be tremendous assets as we grow,” said Christy Vogel, Founder and Executive Director of Sounding Joy. “We’re incredibly fortunate to have her expertise and passion on our team.”
Please join us in welcoming Shelly to Sounding Joy!

Shelly Ash, MS
