Sounding Joy is pleased to announce that Shane Donaldson has been named Board Chair. Donaldson will lead the organization’s Board of Directors and partner with Executive Director, Christy Vogel to guide strategic direction and governance as Sounding Joy continues to expand its mission of providing hearing aids to children whose families cannot afford them.

Donaldson has been with Sounding Joy since its inception in 2021, serving as a Director on the Board of Directors. He was present at the organization’s founding moment when Vogel first articulated her vision to start a nonprofit providing hearing aids to children in need. His immediate response was to offer Sounding Joy’s very first donation, setting the tone for his ongoing commitment to the mission.

Donaldson has been deeply active in the organization, attending every event and consistently supporting Sounding Joy’s work in the community. His hands-on involvement and dedication to the mission have made him an integral part of Sounding Joy’s growth and success.

As Board Chair, Donaldson will preside over board and committee meetings, serve as the primary liaison between the Board and Executive Director, and provide strategic leadership infulfilling the Board’s governance responsibilities, including oversight of the organization’s mission, long-term direction, bylaw adherence, and fiduciary duties.

Donaldson is the founder and former CEO of Pinnacle Home Care, a twelve-agency enterprise serving Florida. He founded Pinnacle in 2003 and led the company for more than two decades before transitioning to his next chapter. Today, Shane devotes his time to board service with nonprofit and healthcare-focused organizations, alongside The Donaldson Family Foundation and select private investments.

As a Physical Therapist with 25 years of clinical and administrative experience, Donaldson has worked internationally in Australia, New Zealand, and the UK, gaining exposure to diverse health systems and delivery philosophies. He holds a BSc in Physiotherapy from Curtin University in Western Australia.

Donaldson’s leadership philosophy centers on corporate culture and staff engagement, grounded in the belief that organizations can be a force for the greater good of the communities they serve. That philosophy has shaped Sounding Joy’s approach to serving children and families in Tampa Bay since its founding.

“We are deeply grateful to have Shane step into this leadership role,” said Christy Vogel. “From offering our very first donation to serving as a dedicated Director and now Board Chair, Shane has been a champion of our mission from day one. We’re excited to have his continued leadership as Sounding Joy grows to serve even more children in Tampa Bay.”
