Sounding Joy received an unexpected $500 donation from the Rotary Club of Lake Placid following a speaking engagement by founder and executive director Christy Vogel in January 2026.
Christy was invited to share her personal story of growing up with undiagnosed hearing loss and how that experience inspired Sounding Joy’s mission to provide hearing aids to children whose families cannot afford them. Following her presentation, the club surprised her with a $500 gift to support the organization’s work.
The Rotary Club of Lake Placid is part of Rotary International, a global network dedicated to service, leadership, and strengthening communities through the principle of “Service Above Self.”
Hearing aids create a significant financial barrier for many families who don’t qualify for assistance programs but still can’t afford the expense. Support from community partners like the Rotary Club of Lake Placid helps Sounding Joy continue its mission to ensure children have access to the hearing care they need to learn, connect, and thrive.
We’re grateful to the Rotary Club of Lake Placid for their hospitality, generosity, and commitment to helping children in our community.
