What We Are About

Sounding Joy provides hearing aids to children whose families can’t afford them so they can reach their full potential. Hearing aids reduce the chance of a child becoming addicted to drugs and alcohol as well as reducing suicide attempts as a young adult.

The numbers are staggering.

30 million Americans have hearing loss in both ears. Three in 1000 children are born with hearing impairment in one or both ears. 37.5 million adults report some trouble hearing.

The effects on people’s lives are even more devastating.

Hearing-impaired children without a hearing aid are twice as likely to become addicted to drugs or alcohol.

And more than five times as likely to attempt suicide.

Hearing loss needlessly limits potential.

Untreated hearing loss even reduces earning potential by $12,000 per year to $30,000 per year. And yet few adults who could benefit from wearing hearing aids have ever used them.
